Explain to me why you've hosted art shows?
I always liked the idea of supporting artists because they do things differently. I was really close with a painter, Bryten Goss, who sadly passed away in 2006, for a number of years and I started my life as a supporter of the arts/collector by hosting independent art shows for him in the 90s because I really respected the fact that he was so passionate about what he was doing and felt that he was doing something important. Where most young people just kind of fuck around with their time, Bryten was painting and trying to expand himself. He was only 17 when he had his first exhibition. But in general, I'm just impressed with those who think outside the box and in terms of wanting to do something important, or inspiring, or at least different, as opposed to just sort of "getting by." And I think these people, who include skateboarders, should be supported.
Will you push your son, Pilot, to skateboard?
Would never push, but would of course support it.
Who is Seymour Sycamore?
A character I created for a screenplay I wrote years ago that I have plans to make into a film at some point in my life.
