Sitting in the theater and hearing nearly 2,000 people clap for you before and after your part, how did you feel sitting in your seat. What was going through your mind?
I was so nervous it was hard to take it all in. It may sound corny but thinking back it was one of the best moments of my life and it wasn't because of the validation of others. I didn't want to do a video part because of so many fear based reasons. One day a situation might come up in my life when I think I can't do something driven by fear and I will think of that moment and at least try.
I told you this before and I'm going to tell you again so the whole world will know, I got really choked up after I saw your part and probably the next ten times I watched it by myself at home. I mean tears in my eyes choked up. I'm not the only one who's felt this way either. What do you think it is that's making people react this way?
That really means a lot to me. I think it's different things for different people. My close friends knew that I was in a bad place in my life a few years ago and were happy to see me back where I was supposed to be. I also think a lot of people grew up watching me skate and it brought them back to those good ol dayz. Music and editing helped too, thanks Ty! Really, I don't know exactly what it was but if there's one person that used to skate and got psyched off my part and got back on a board that part was for you.
I know a lot of people who wanted to be you while I was growing up. But while you were growing up, were there any skaters you wanted to be or anyone that really influenced you?
Gonz & Natas. When I was young I watched their videos, skated their spots and tried their tricks. I was blessed to be able to spend a lot of time with Gonz on Blind. Recently, I spent New Year's Eve with Natas at Reese Forbes' house. It was a small gathering and I got a chance to get to know Natas a little better.
